RS800 and OSX Leopard

Post by lstelie » Mon Jul 14, 2008 11:45 am

Hello,

I started with iSmartTrain, a old PPC iBook under Tiger and a RS200. With SonicLink evrything went fine and I was able to transfert the polar data to the Mac
Then I switched to a RS800sd.. no way to transfer the data to the Mac (I had to manually enter the data)

Now I changed my dying iBook for a MacBookPro Intel under Leopard.. is there a solution to transfer the RS800 data to iSmartTrain ?

Thanks in advance

Hi,
The problem is that the RS & CS Polars use a different form of IR communication to the S series. We're working on drivers for the IR-USB2 Polar adaptor at the moment, and we hope to have a version out soon that'll support these devices.

Stuart

If you succeed in provinding drivers that allow use of Polar IR interface with a Mac runing Mac OSX.. you'll be the king of Polar kingdom (and I would pay for such drivers and I am very likely not the only one)

Hi, I think I may be experiencing similar problems. I have a relatively new macbook (10 months old) running leopard and an s610i hrm. I have just purchased ismarttrain and not yet able to connect the two via infrared. What is the solution? Thanks, Si

Hi,
What hardware are you using to download from your S610?

Hi,
Have a look here - http://www.ismarttrain.com/faq.php for the hardware you need.

Hi. Thanks for that. Where could I get the Polar Interface Plus from?

Sorry, Simon, that's maybe not clear enough - you need the Polar IR-Serial interface (not USB) and a Serial-USB adaptor, such as the Keyspan USA-19HS. The Interface Plus is for the Accurex & XTrainer models.

I've been looking into that too. Are you aware of this page: http://www.manyetas.com/creed/index.html ?

Scroll down to "SigmaTel USB IrDA Driver for STIr42xx Source", that's the chipset in the Polar USB adapter. It's 10.2.8 sources, and I have it down to 3 compilation errors now, but I'm lacking C++ skills and I don't feel very confident hacking Mac drivers either... not to say that it would work if I make it compile eventually.

I can send you a Zip file of the XCode 3.1 project I have if you'd like.

I suppose if I had that driver working I could use the RS400 from http://trac.enneu.net/rs400/ and get .hrm files off the device.

Hope this helps, as I'd love full RS800 IrDA support.
