Managing Sessions

Sessions are the core of iSMARTtrain. Each session reflects the activities of one training session or race. Sessions can be entered maually, or downloaded from an HRM, GPS or Power Meter.

Add a Session Manually

To add a session, select 'Add Session' from the 'Add' menu, or click the '+' button at the bottom of the iSMARTtrain window. The Add Session dialog will then be displayed. Enter the date and time of the session and select the sport from the pop-up menu. The sports displayed are those entered in the Sports dialog box above.

Select one of the already-defined routes or enter details for this particular session. Next, enter the distance (this field may be filled if a pre-defined route was selected), and the duration of the session. The average pace/speed for the session will be calculated, depending on the pace units for the sport selected. The climb field is used to store the total climb for the session. The equipment used for the session can also be selected.

Once several sessions have been entered, the data can be viewed either as a table or a graph. The total number of sessions, distance and time per week or month can also be tracked.

Adding Summary Data

The Summary tab of the 'Add Session' dialog box contains details of the Average & Maximum Heart Rate, TRIMP, time sepnt in HR Zones and the fluid and carb. consumption. Some of these are filled in automatically when data is downloaded from an HRM or Power Meter. If a session in manually entered, then these details can also be entered. This is useful in cases when your HRM does not have a download facility.

Adding Keyword Data

To add a keyword value to a session, click on the 'Keywords' tab to display the keywords setup in the current log file. To add a value to a keyword, click on the value column of the listbox and type in the value. The data will be saved when the session is added.

Adding Equipment Data

To add a piece of equipment to a session, click on the 'Equipment' tab to display the equipment setup in the current log file. To add the equipment to a session, click on the tick box next to the equipment in the listbox. The data will be saved when the session is added.

Edit Session

To edit an existing session, click on the 'Edit' button in the Session Details popup window that is displayed when a session is clicked on.

Delete a Session

To delete a session, click on the 'Trash Can' button in the Session Details popup window that is displayed when a session is clicked on.
