Apple Maps in V4.0.7 and Mac OS X 10.11 (El Capitan)

With the release of Mac OS X 10.11, Apple has removed some of the restrictions on using Apple Maps in applications. In previous releases of Mac OS X, only apps sold via the Mac App store could use Apple Maps, similar to the restrictions placed on iCloud.

If you’re using 4.0.7 on El Capitan, you’ll notice a difference in the look of the maps, and you’ll see more information presented when you click on a lap marker.

Google Analytics in Latest Beta

In beta release 14, we’ve starting using analytics to get some idea of how our customers are using iSMARTtrain, and the help us plan future enhancements and features, based on what our users are actually using.

The setup we’re using is based on Google Anaylitcs. We’re tracking the following:

  • When the app is opened
  • When data is downloaded from a device, we record what the device is used
  • When a session is added, we record the sport, distance and duration of the session.

All of this data is record anonymously – no data identifying the user is recorded, nor is any geographical data beyond what Google Analytis provides (i.e. we’re not storing your GPS data).

If you wish to opt-out of the analytics, go to the ‘Analytics’ tab in the preferences and uncheck the ‘Use Analytics’ checkbox.

Any questions or comments, please let me know.
